The Lafayette Community Foundation is pleased to support the following entities during the Spring 2015 Grant Cycle:
Spring 2015- Grant Summary 
California Shakespeare Theater- $2000
Focus- Art & Culture
Cal Shakes seeks to continue offering open captioned performances for each of the four productions of our 2015 season and beyond. A $5000 grant would cover the direct cost of hiring Turner Reporting Service to provide open captioning for the first Wednesday performance of each show, offering deaf and hearing-impaired theater-goers a scheduled series for attending open captioned performances.
Contare Con Vivo- $1000
Focus- Art & Culture
Contare seeks funding to offset 7 choral concerts in the Lamorinda area ( 4 in Lafayette). Discounted Senior and student tickets are offered. Statistics included in application show a strong Lafayette/Lamorinda fan and support base
Early Alert Canines- $1200
Focus- Youth
Early Alert seeks funds for a community outreach “Town Hall Meeting” that will provide vital program information to the Lafayette and surrounding area’s Type 1 Diabetics and parents of Type 1 children community. In addition, these gatherings enlist new volunteer foster and transitional foster homes for diabetic alert dogs in training.
Girl Scouts- Twin Canyon- $500
Focus- Youth
GS/Twin Canyon is seeking funding for improvements at their Lafayette campsite to replace five outdated toilets. (supporting total project cost of $2,600)
Lafayette Library and Learning Center Foundation
Focus- Youth, Families, Community- $1000
LCF seeks general support for three community based events- Lafayette Children’s Book Festival, LLLC Makerfest, and Lafayette’s Dogtown Downtown
Lafayette Community Garden and Outdoor Learning Center-
Focus- Environment, Community-$2000
Lafayette Community Garden seeks funding to cover the cost of installing a handicapped parking space to meet county permit requirements.
Lamorinda Adult Respite Center (LARC)- $1000
Focus-Seniors
LARC seeks funding support for its music program, a vital part of the social Adult Day Program offered to Lamorinda seniors.
Lamorinda Spirit Van- $1000
Focus- Seniors
Lamorinda Spirit Van seeks support for the increased maintenance and fuel costs of a three-vehicle program begun in 2014 for senior residents of Lamorinda ( 46% of users last year were from Lafayette)
Lamorinda Village- $2000
Focus- Seniors
Lamorinda Village is seeking specific support for their start-up and beginning operation costs including computer software, mailing and advertising costs, background checks, launch event and volunteer support.
Las Trampas- $990
Focus- Adults with Disabilities
Las Trampas seeks support to replace appliances and cookware for its Chef’s Table and Baker’s Dozen program.
Town Hall Theatre- $1000
Focus – Arts & Culture
Town Hall seeks support for the cost of tearing down existing halogen fixtures, clean up wiring, and install five new LED floodlights.The end result: better lighting to work by, plus 65-70% reduction in electricity used.

FALL 2015 -GRANT SUMMARY
1) Generations in Jazz, Big Band of Rossmoor- Match of $1000
The Big Band of Rossmoor is seeking funds to support its general operations. For over 20 years, the Big Band of Rossmoor has performed for thousands of community members, working closely with schools so that young and old can perform together.
2) Interfaith Council of Contra Costa County-$1000
Interfaith looks for support for their Winter Nights shelter which provides a warm, safe place to sleep and three meals a day for homeless families. The request was specifically for two laptops and a portable printer to be made available for families for job search functions.
3) Lafayette Youth Arts Society- $500
The Lafayette Youth Arts Society is a team of 12-16 year old youth whose organization promotes writing and photography among school students in Lafayette. They run an annual writing and photography contest, as well as free writing workshops. They work under the guidance, and non-profit status, of the Sunrise Rotary Club.
4) Special Olympics Northern California, Inc.- $1000
Special Olympics seeks support for their Olympic games to be held at Acalanes High School for participants in their Schools Program in Contra Costa County. The program began in 2007 with 350 participants- last year 1,149 athletes competed.
5) WomenSing- $1000
WomenSing seeks support for their Youth Inspiring Youth- Commissioning Emerging Composers Project and Treble Voices Now Festival held in Lafayette and Berkeley. This is a culmination of a young female composer competition ( ages 18-30) with the opportunity to work with 90 year old Alice Parker, an American composer icon.
6) Youth Homes, Inc.- $2500
Youth Homes seeks support for it’s Summer Garden Program, a five day/8 week job skills development and workforce opportunity at their foster group homes in Lafayette and Pleasant Hill. Funds will be used to purchase uniforms, equipment, and supplies.
