Sierra Higgins
Sierra was raised in Danville, and has lived in Lafayette for the last 25 years with her husband, Tyler where they raised their three adult children. Sierra attended Carondelet High School and then USC and Saint Mary’s, where she received a BS in Education and an MA in The Teaching of Reading. Sierra taught 4th grade until she had her children, and then worked part time as a substitute and Lafayette Partners in Education (LPIE) science teacher in the school district. Sierra is currently in her 20th year of teaching an after school kindergarten and first grade enrichment program out of her home. In addition, Sierra is a Master Gardener, and organizes all public speaker requests for the Contra Costa Master Gardeners as part of the CCMG Speaker’s Bureau. She has volunteered in the community in various ways throughout the years including Assistance League, LPIE, National Charity League, White Pony Express, Girl Scout leader, and various positions in the schools. Sierra enjoys travel, gardening, hiking, tennis, reading, cooking, mahjongg and puzzling.
